Astra has been the sole agent in Indonesia for Toyota vehicles since 1971. Astra holds stakes in Toyota Astra Motor (TAM) which is the importer and sole distributor of Toyota models in Indonesia. TAM, as the sole distributor for Toyota products in Indonesia, operates through its five main dealers, while PT Toyota Motor Manufacturing Indonesia (TMMIN), manufactures a number of Toyota models.
TAM has several successful products to date. In the low Multi Purpose Vehicle (MPV) market, demand for Toyota Avanza was so strong. The medium-segment, the Toyota Rush, was also very popular. Due to high demand for low fuel consumption vehicles, the diesel engine versions of the Kijang Innova and Fortuner were launched in the middle of 2007 with Euro-2 specifications. Among other favorable TAM products are the Vios, Corolla, Camry, Crown and the Dyna medium truck.
Auto 2000 serves as one of TAM’s main dealers and operates in East and West Java, Banten, Bali, Sumatera (except Riau, Jambi and Bengkulu), Kalimantan, Nusa Tenggara and Jakarta.
